IF ONLY....

If only snow would fall on the cedars here in Austin, then I (and thousands of others) would not be looking out through itchy red eye sockets! Very unlovely. The lovely thought I had was the book itself, Snow Falling on Cedars, by David Guterson, which, if you haven't read by now, is such a lovely work that I have read it at least three times, and just may read it again for the lovely experience! Yes, it's that good. So, dear friends, here is the link on Amazon.com. If you're looking for something lovely to read on some of these cold wintry days, I would definitely recommend this book.

GARBAGE?? NOT MY JOB!!

It was brought to my attention today (being our garbage pickup day) that garbage is a subject that needs addressing, the emptying in particular. I do believe we should stop and appreciate the fact that nice people in colorful trucks actually come by our house and take our garbage away. What I have found regarding garbage is this advice from a late advice columnist, Ann Landers. When asked whose job it was to empty the garbage, the husband, wife, or children, her answer was simple: Whoever finds the trashcan full needs to empty it. Now that is simply a lovely notion, and this way of doing things at our house has mitigated ill feelings and eliminated stress. Lovely!
