Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow! By Nancy Jill Thames

Yesterday the average temperature across the nation was 12 degrees. Even California was having a cold spell at 64 degrees. People were wearing socks! What I find interesting about this snow wave is what happened to the global warming theories that the earth was going to heat up, dry out, and blow away?

So much for theorists.

People all across the nation are home bound, struggling to stay unburied from all the snow, and trying to keep warm. In Texas it isn't the snow keeping us in, it's the cedar fever - a merciless wave of yellow cedar pollen exploding in the air during the months of December, January, February and March. I only go outside for one event a month - The Leander Writers' Guild meeting. I pay the price the next day but it's worth it.
Cedar Pollen Wafting on the Air

How do cooped-up people cope? (Try saying that fast three times!) I picture frazzled moms trying to keep school kids entertained all day.  Dads who can't go into work must either be frustrated trying to work with the kids at home, or, as my hubby would, might be happy watching TV.

What I do is write, listen to classical music, and stay in touch with the outside world via social media like Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Thank The Lord for the internet!

What about you? How is it where you are? How do you cope with little ones, husbands, and your sanity? This inquiring writer wants to know.

Please leave a comment, JOIN MY SITE with Google Friend Connect (if you haven't already), and I'll do a drawing. One of you will win one of my books (your choice) in paperback or ebook.  I would appreciate a way to reach you if you win. Good luck! The winner will be announced in my next post on January 14, 2014.

Here's hoping you all stay warm and safe where ever you live.

  1. I have been trying to catch up on my TBR pile and bundling up. With temp. in the single digit at night and not making it to freezing lately that about all I fell like doing. We had no snow only freezing cold. Thankfully the weather is getting back to normal for this time of the year!!!

  3. I live in Florida and although we are cold it is nothing like the rest of the country. My husband flew to Flint Michigan on Monday and he is cold!!! My daughter, her husband and two cats are staying with me, because their apartment is very cold and expensive to heat. If I were snowed in I would be reading and making fleece blankets!!!

  7. Pamela, you're fortunate to live in Florida during this cold front. Family staying with you can be nice, I think.

Do you make the fleece blankets that use ties? My daughter has one and I love it!

  8. Wow, LadyPuzzler! Indiana is unimaginably cold for someone like me used to living in California and Texas. My hubby has to travel up north, though - I told him I'd pass on going with him!

  11. I get stuck inside with snowdays and darned if I don't get sick. (cough, cough) Now have medication from doctor, but it took me three days to read a book (my mother said that was about time to call an ambulance - hah). This part of Indiana only hit -11 and only a little snow. But my silly dog couldn't figure out why he shouldn't stay outside for a long time until he figured out his paws were hurting. (he was the runt of the litter and while he does mind some commands very well, Come into the house is not one of them. We hit 31 degrees today. Almost tropical out there - albeit it with sleet. But that should go away by tonight. I am staying in until my next run to the pharmacy tomorrow...

  12. Oh, Liz!

Cooped up and coughing - not fun! And your poor puppy must be confused with all the freezing weather.

    I hear it's warming up a little - but maybe it's a rumor.

I hope you recover soon so you can get back to writing and reading.

Thanks for joining the site - good luck on the drawing!
